Particularly strict regulations the so called "ADR" (Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises dangereuses par route = European Agreement on the international transportation of hazardous materials on the road).

As in the German GGVSE, the European edition ADR prescribes equipment for the protection of the driver and all passengers in the event of damage. By this is meant the personal protection items which the driver and all passengers use in the case of an accident in order to protect themselves against leaking materials or other dangers while they either stay close to the vehicle and limit the damage or leave the scene of the accident for their own safety.
